Mathematical dancing

Emilie Gallier (Master in Choreography): “Twist in the Body of the Big Spectator is a study about a dance performance that goes beyond the usual boundaries. The viewer can alter the traditional perception by changing seats during the performance. I want to examine to what extent the spectator’s gaze can change the dance. Perhaps in the future the audience will be able to influence the music and other aspects of the performance. The ‘twist’ in the title also refers to the dance itself, which is a combination of modern dance and even yoga and uses a mathematical approach. The dancer is given a random number and then carries out that number of physical twists.”
