Manetta Berends, Mandy Cobussen and Robin Smits(Graphic Design) developed a presentation method for the Dutch Wikileaks. Manetta Berends: “The client for this practical assignment, Buro Jansen & Janssen, conducts research into government transparency by using the freedom of information act (wet openbaar bestuur).

The material for this assignment is part of the 250,000 American diplomatic cables that ended up in the hands of the whistleblower site Wikileaks. Once a zip-file containing these cables had been downloaded on to the internet and hacked, this enormous diplomatic ‘log book’ became public. Buro Jansen & Janssen was looking for a method to present all of the 5,588 cables related to the Netherland offline to a large audience. The design aims to create an overview in this enormous amount of information, offer access to specific interest areas through a structure containing main and sub categories, political and geographical tags, and a time line and unique reference numbers.”
